Day 03 Early morning drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Stunning views of the mighty Himalayan massifs which rise above 8000m, including the peaks of Manaslu, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, will highlight the drive, followed by an overnight stay in the beautiful city of Pokhara.
Day 04: Pokhara - Naya Pul - Ulleri (1960m)
An hour-long drive to Naya Pul, passing the picturesque fertile Pokhara valley and the majestic Himalayas in the background, takes you to the Nayapul {1070m}, where we commence our trek to Birethanthi, a large prosperous town that provides reasonable city-like amenities, located at bank of the Modi River. The trail continuously climbs up towards Sudami where we climb gradually up while passing lush rice fields and cascades before we take on the stone staircase to Hile. A short climb up the stone staircase will take you to the scattered village of Hile, a 15 minute walk away from Tikhedhunga {1540m}.
The trail crosses the Tikhedhunga stream on a suspension bridge before rising very steeply on a stone staircase that is said to have more than 3800 steps. Along the way are a few lodges and local tea shops that offer drinks (cold drinks and tea) and the breathtaking view of Mt. Annapurna south appearing through a "V" shaped valley. The staircase continues up to the large prosperous Magar village of Ulleri at 1960m, turning its face towards the radiant beauty of the mountains standing over the dense greenery of the forests, mesmerizing in its heavenly beauty.
Day 05: Ulleri - Ghorepani (2860m)
We gradually climb up through pastures and cultivated fields before we reach Banthati. Then, after our trail climbs slightly through the large rainforest of oak and rhododendrons, crossing tiny streams with roaring sounds of tiny cascades, we make the final climb to Nangethanti. Eventually, an hour climb through the dense forest takes us to Ghorepani at 2850m.
Day 06: Poonhill hike at dawn from Ghorepani and Ghorepani -Tadapani (2630m) trek.
An early-morning excursion to Poon Hill(3210m) after about an hour’s climbing, brings us to a spectacular unobstructed view of a sunrise sparkling over the high snow-capped mountains. After spending an hour here among the heavens, we come back to Ghorepani, have a hot breakfast, and start the trip to Tadapani. The trail climbs up for 45 minutes along ridges to get to Deurali {I}{3170m} that offers magnificent views of the mountains similar to those seen from Poonhill. We keep climbing through rhododendron and pine forests to a crest before descending through ridges, interlaced with Deurali {II} {3090m} and its collection of souvenir installs. The trail continues to descend alongside a stream and gets gentler as the route reaches Banthati which has several hotels in the shadow of a huge rock face at 2650m. Then the trail climbs gradually up to the crest and descends steeply to a stream before climbing up again through forests to Tadapani at 2710m.
Day 07: Tadapani - Ghandrung (1950m)
We continue our trek to Ghandrunk. It takes approximately 3 hours from Tadapani. The trail descends continuously through the dense forest, passing few teashops en-route, before taking you to the beautiful Gurung village of Ghandruk. We will stay here overnight, giving you a chance to visit the Gurung museum, and take a short hike to the Mish Ram Barah Temple. This hike takes approximately an hour to summit the hill, where the temple is located.
Day 08: Ghandrung - Pokhara (820m)
The trail continues dropping down to Modi River through a stone paved path, passing picturesque landscapes and unique cultures. A continued descent down the stone staircase takes us to the Saul bazaar, where we start treading down a gentler flatter trail taking us to Naya Pul. After the short drive to Pokhara, we'll have the night to do as we please in the beautiful city.
