Trip overview

Manaslu Trekking is considered one of the most challenging treks in Nepal Himalayas. The Manaslu Circuit Trek rewards the adventurous with an unparalleled alpine experience with a perfect combination of rich culture heritage, unsurpassed Himalayan beauty, and a rich mountain biological diversity. The trek ascends through Budi Gandaki River which offers numerous rivers and waterfalls to Larkya La Pass 5213m with striking views of Himalchuli, Manaslu (8118m), Ganesh Himal and other various mountains, attractive diverse of landscape, various kinds of flora and fauna. Laborious part of Manaslu trekking start from Samagoan (3450m).

The biggest challenge of Manaslu Trekking wait for - crossing the snow covered Larkye La pass (5213m), which is a mere 8 km from Tibet border from where you get chance to observe classic views of Himlung Himal (7,126m), Cheo Himal, Gyaji Kang, Kang guru (6,981m) and Annapurna II (7,937m), from Larkya La (Larkya Pass), we descent steep down with full of snow covered trail up to Tanbuche. After crossing the steep down hill we flow narrow trail to the Dudh Khola (White River) banks passing through magnificent forests of rhododendron, Pine and Juniper. As we descend further the alpine vegetation gives way to subtropical greenness. Then we walk flow the Marshyangdi River to Besishahar which will be last night of our Manaslu Trekking.

Day By Day Itinerary

Day 1 :Arrival in Kathmandu

The journey begins as you depart from your home country/city. Once you arrive at the Tribhuwan international airport(TIA) Airport, you are greeted by our airport representative and drive to the 3 -4stars hotel. Overnight at hotel with inclusive dinner along with the adventure discussion ahead.

Day 2 :Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley

After some rest, full day sightseeing at Kathmandu (Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath, Swayambhu, and Kathmandu durbar square)with Adventure Outdoor team. Overnight at hotel, inclusive of breakfast. At eventide, you will be briefed about your trip.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Gorkha

It’s an early 6hr drive to the historic town of Gorkha. Organizing our gear and loads with our porters, we will head up to our first night's camp site above Gorkha palace, stopping en route to visit this well-maintained (but fortified) site.

Day 4: Gorkha to Kanchowk (956m)

Trail separates north-east towards Budhi Gandaki river. We will follow the right trail towards Khanchowk Bazaar where we will stay overnight.

Day 5: Khanchowk to Arughat (530m)

A 5 to 6hr walk will bring us Arughat., largest village of this river basin. Overnight at Arughat.

Day 6: Arughat to Seti Khola (750m)

Our route will first enter eastern part of Arughat, then turn west across the bridge over Budhi Gandaki. Our trail becomes steeper and we will cross Arkhet Khola on a suspension bridge, before coming to Arkhet (760m). Descending from the small Magar and Gurung village of Kyorpani (820m) we will reach Seti Khola (710m). Overnight at Soti Khola.

Day 7: Seti Khola to Machha Khola (890m)

Broad valley narrows and at times our trail will cut into the steep valley side, which is densely forested. We will pass a number of small villages, tucked into the hillside. Descending on a wide, sandy riverbed we will follow a path that runs below the steep and craggy valley side. We will then climb up on a trail to Macha Khaola. We will camp outside the village overnight.

Day 8: Machha Khola to Jagat (1,350m)

Our trail to the tiny village of Khola Besi is quite exposed and challenging in places. After a short section of forest path, we will reach the single tea house at Doban. Above Doban, Budhi Gandaki descends an impressive series of rapids. Beyond this steep section, the river is much more placid, meandering across a broad gravel bed. Crossing a 93m long suspension bridge and climbing some stone stairs, we will reach Tharo Bharyang. We will then trek along the river and climb through small villages to reach Jagat, a beautiful flag stone village. Overnight at Jagat.

Day 9: Jagat to Ngyak (2,300m)

Descending a long series of stone steps to the river we will climb a terraced hill to Saguleri. We can see Sringi Himal from here. At Ghatte khola, we will cross Budhi Gandaki river and continue toward Sirish Gaon. Budhi Gandaki valley narrows from here with soaring precipitous walls. Our trail finally climbs uphill to Ngyak. Overnight at Ngyak.

Day 10: Rest Day at Ngyak

Rest day at Ngyak. We will explore the local area and go on short excursions.

Day 11: Ngyak to Ghap (2,040m)

Our path goes through dense jungle up the narrow western gorge of Budhi Gandaki heading towards Manaslu. At times our path is high above the river and we will cross and re-cross a variety of bridges. We will reach Ghap going up and down through the forest . Overnight at Ghap.

Day 12: Ghap to Lho Gaon (3,150m)

Through a forest of firs, rhododendrons and oaks trees our rail will enter the closely packed houses of Lihi (2,900m). Leaving Lihi village behind, we will enter another village of Sho (2,960m), where we can see spectacular views of Manaslu North (7,157m) and Naike peak (5,515m). We will finally reach the village of Lho after a short climb. Overnight at Lho.

Day 13: Lho Gaon to Sama Gompa (3,500m)

Leaving Lho village, we will follow right bank of the river to reach Sama Gaon. We will camp at Sama Gompa which is twenty minutes beyond Samdo village, near the Tibetan border.

Day 14: Sama Gompa to Samdo (3,690m)

We will trek through desert path and windy valley to reach Samdo. The Tibetan border is just four kilometers away from Samdo, but visitors are not allowed to pass the border. This is also an excellent view point for Mt. Manaslu, Samdo (Pang Phuchuli), Nagdi Chuli, Simnang Himal, Manaslu glacier, Manaslu ice fall and many more.

Day 15: Acclimatize at Samdo

Surrounded by mountains in a peaceful forest, we will rest and relax at Samdo. We can hike to Manaslu Base Camp for excellent views of Samdo (Pang Phuchuli), Nagdi Chuli, Simnang Himal, Manaslu glacier, and Manaslu ice fall.

Day 16: Samdo to Guest House (4,450m)

We will descend on a wide, gentle trail from Samdo and pass through a stone archway. Climbing gently over the huge Larkya Glacier, we will get to a ridge at about 4,000m. We will reach Larkya Rest House after some more climbing.

Day 17: Guest House to Larke Phedi

We will cross several moraines and descend past four frozen lakes till we reach Larkya La pass. There are tremendous views of Himlung Himal (7126 m), Cheo Himal (6,820 m), Gyaji Kung (7,030 m), Kang Guru (6,981 m) and Annapurna II (7,937 m). It is a steep descent again on the other side of the pass and is covered with snow. We will camp at the foot of Larke Pass called Phedi.

Day 18: Larke Phedi to Karche (2,785m)

We will reach Bhimtang descending along grassy moraine. Trail drops from Bhimtang and crosses a glacier stream which descends into a beautiful pine and rhododendron forest to Hompuk (3,430m). We will reach the fenced field of Karache desecending further. Overnight at Karache.

Day 19: Karche to Dharapani (1,920m)

We will descend more, pass several houses, fields, rhododendron and oak forests and trek into Tilje. We will reach Dharapani after descending through a scrub forest. Overnight at Dharapani.

Day 20: Dharapani to Chamche (1,433m)

We will follow the trail down stream to Marshyangdi river. We will reach Chamche village passing through scattered villages. Overnight at Chamche.

Day 21: Chamche to Ngadi (846m)

We will ascent gently to Bahundada,. Expanses of terraced fields extend up to the beautiful village perched a few hundred meters above the river. Our trail descends to Ngatti, where we will camp for the night.

Day 22: Ngadi to Besi Sahar

We will reach Bhulbule after following south of Marsyandi River and entering into an area of large terrace fields. Our trail gradually climbs up and then descends to Besisahar.. Overnight at Besi Sahar.

Day 23: Drive to Kathmandu

We pack up early and head for the airstrip to hop a flight back to Kathmandu Necessary travel arrangements are made and a little time is given wandering around the near by city (wander for the gifts for the remembrance of the trip). Final farewell dinner is served in the evening.

Day 24: Fly back to home

As the time runs, you are departed for your safe journey towards your home country from the Tribhuwan international airport.
