Shaktism:

This is the philosophy of the followers of the goddess known as a Kali, the female principle, especially as a personified in the consort of Shiva the god of Hindu. This cult is very popular in Nepal who belives  that the goddess is the head of Hindu pantheon which is worshipped in the form of energy and vitality. In the Hindu concept the active principle in the universe is feminine and the male principle is passive who is energized by the feminine principle. Sakti is symbolized by the bliss inherent in yoni and supreme shiva is represented by linga. The ideal state of their union conduces to tremendous worldly pleasure. Male and female sex organs in the coitus symbolize the act of creation. According to the shakta philosophy, sex is considered as the cosmic union of male and female principles and its importance is realized on the biological plane. The joy of union is highly appreciated in the religion and practiced as the means of supreme bliss and joy. This principle can be compared with kundalini and with women. Shakti is the female principle which symbolically transformed into a goddess through rituals as in Kumari worship or virgin worship. Shakti is the personification of totality. Tantrics believe that reality is unity and unity is divinity. In this tradition, Kali is the principle deity and different kinds of offering are given in during the ceremony, in the offering ceremony, the butter, lamps, the wine, animal sacrifice and sometimes in the remote past, also the human sacrifice also practiced. There are many temples in the kathmandu valley dedicated to the shakti cult and often the ceremony is celebrated either openly or sometimes secretly.
