About 123 km south-east of Kathmandu and 20 km from the Indian border at siraha on the Nepali side in the terai region lays the ancient city of Janakpurdham.

Religious and historical books like the Bishnupuran, the Sat path Brahman, the Bhagawat, the Balmiki Ramayan, Brih daranyakopnishad tells that the land of Janakpur is a sacred scented chandan like srikand, a place of religious peanace and the best place for peace, mediation and beatitude (Deliverance from rebirth).

From King Janak to Sita Devi to Lord Rama to Gautama Buddha, founder of buddhism, and Vardamana Mahavira, the 24th and final Tirthankara of the Jain religion has honored this land with their presence and helped it establish as one of the religious and holy site in Nepal. Dedicated to Sita Devi, daughter of King Janak, the ruler of Mithila; Janaki Mandir dominates the whole janakpur with its impressive architecture and traditional art carved on the temple walls. The Tajmahal of Nepal was built in 1898 by Queen Brisabhanu Kunwar of Tikamgarh, the cost of construction was said to be nine lakh, which is why it is also called “Nau Lakha Mandir”.

Yearly celebration of Vibhapanchami, Ramnawami and Janakinawami has enhanced the glory and importance of Janakpur, the beautiful city of temples and ponds. Dominated by the Maithili language and surrounded by rich culture, this is a must visit site for every person that follows hinduism and is fascinated by architecture.


Day 1 Arrive in TIA, Kathmandu

Representative will be waiting for your arrival to take you to hotel. Rest and if time allows evening worshipping ceremony at famous Pashupatinath Temple.

Day 2Kathmandu to janakpur

253km drive from Kathmandu on a private vehicle takes to reach janakpur. Take a Evening walk around the ancient city and know the mithila culture and art the region has to provide more closely. Back to lodge for the night stay.

Day 3Janaki Mandir & Ponds

Experience closely the Tajmahal of Nepal. Take a look at the Vivah mandap, where Lord Ram and Sita Devi got married. Visit Ram Mandir, the first temple built in the Nepali pagoda style in janakpurdham. Close to city centre are the two most important ponds; Dhanush Sagar and Ganga Sagar. Back to lodge for the night stay.

Day 4Janakpur to Kathmandu

Travel back to Kathmandu after a historical and religious ride of janakpurdham. Enjoy some scenic view along the way. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5Kathmandu

After breakfast visit and enjoy Bouddha Nath, Budhanilkantha (Jal Narayan) and three Durbar Squares in Kathmandu and make your visit more memorable.

Day 6Departure

With promise to travel again, you depart to your destination.
