Tharpu Chuli (5663m/18,575 ft), known as Tent Peak, is located towards the south of the Annapurna Base Camp. We trek in the Annapurna region admiring the diverse greenery, fauna and culture of Nepal. Our definitive objective which is summiting the Tent Peak or Tharpu Chuli offers us all encompassing perspectives of the Himalayas including Annapurna, Hiunchuli and others. The 17-day trip starts and finishes in Kathmandu however the genuine trek begins from Nayapool located close to Pokhara, the delightful ‘Lake City’. Reaching the base camp of Mt. Machapuchhure gives us another valid justification to pick the Tent Peak (Tharpu Chuli) Climbing trip.

Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel

Once arrived at Kathmandu airport, group is greeted by the travel agency and we transfer the group to Hotel. Regarding hotel the details should provide from the guest before arrival, so we manage everything according to the demand of our customers. Day 1 overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 2
Half day Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley & Preparation Day

After the fine breakfast provided from the Hotel we pick up our guest from the hotel and help them to make a small tour in the early morning. The half day sightseen include wonderful places of Kathmandu along few driving distance country side where the food are served on a way according to the choice and preference of our customers. At night dinner is served and overnight stay hotel.

Day 3
Drive to Pokhara & transfer to Hotel

After breakfast we take a drive to Pokhara. After a daylong drive we reach pokhara and transfer to hotel where we take a rest and at evening we enjoy the lakeside tranquility of the small valley, take our dinner and stay overnight at hotel.

Day 4
Drive to Phedi and Trek to Pothana

From Pokhara we take a drive and reach Phedi nearly at noon and take our lunch and halt for few minutes. From Phdei now we start our trek and finally at evening reach Pothana and stay overnight.

Day 5
Trek to Jhinu Dada

From Pothana we trek and reach Jhinu Dada and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of Jhinu dada since this place is one of the best places of Nepal for birding and is located in Annapurna Conservation area at an altitude of 1780m where we can see nearly 488 different birds. Therefore, on day 5 we stay overnight, hearing the sounds of birds.

Day 6
Trek to Bamboo

From Jhinu Dada we now trek forwards and reach Bamboo village at an altitude of 2400 m and stay overnight.

Day 7
Trek to Dheurali

Leavening Bamboo village we trek towards Deulari and upon arrival set our luggage, relax and stay overnight at Deulari.

Day 8
Trek to Annapurna Base Camp

From Dheurali we trek continuously uphill and reach Annapurna base camp, one of the most preferred destination of tourist at an altitude of 4130m and stay overnight .

Day 9
Trek to Tharpu Chuli Base Camp

From Annapurna base camp we trek more up and at an altitude of nearly 5000m we reach Tharpu Chuli Base camp and stay overnight.

Day 10
Climb to Tharpu Chuli High Camp

From Tharpu Chuli camp, we once again hike and reach higher chuli base camp and upon arrival relax and prepare our self for summit climb.

Day 11
Climb to Summit and Back to base camp

From High camp we begin our trek and reach summit at an altitude of 5663. After an average walk of 5-6 hours, we finally reach summit and get prepared to come down since the weather is drastically unpredictable, so we move down the same day and halt at high camp.

Day 12
Trek back to Deurali

From base camp we trek down and finally reach Deurali and halt for a night and prepare ourselves for next day trek.

Day 13
Trek to Chhomrong

From Deurali we trek towards the Chomrong village of Nepal. The village is in the Annapurna area from where we can see the majestic beauty of Annapurna’s and Machhapuchhare.

Day 14
Trek to Ghandruk Gurung village

From Chhomrong we trek down and reach the beautiful Ghandruk Village of Nepal at an altitude of 1940 m. The Ghandruk village is covered with unique and unspoiled ethnic lifestyles, foods and mesmeric view of Himalayas.

Day 15
Trek to Nayapool and Drive to Pokhara

Leaving the beautiful Ghandruk village we trek towards Nayapool and after arrival we take some food and drive towards Kathmandu from pokhara.

Day 16
Fly to Kathmandu

Since Kathmandu valley is full of historical importance so the day we plan for a short souvenir shopping and sightseeing.

Day 17
Drive to Airport & Final Departure

The groups are dropped at airport with warm hospitality for another destination

Frequently asked Questions

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will to, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, hot water facility could be free at lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during off season. It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
