Thorung peak is in the Annapurna region simply over the Thorung La pass. This peak is over 6000m and considered one of the difficult and risky peak for climbing in Nepal. Your excursion begins with 5/6 hours transport drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar. From Besisahar you will reach to Thorung Phedi through wonderful spots like Bahundada, Chamje, Dharapani, Chame, Pisang and Manang. From Thorung Phedi you will reach to Thorung peak base camp and step by step you will reach to Thorung peak summit which offers great perspectives of Nilgiri, Tilicho peak, Dhaulagiri range, and Annapurna.

Day 1
Arrive in TIA, Kathmandu

Our representative will pick you up at the airport. Get a feel for the streets the first day, absorb the sights and sounds, or rest at the hotel. We discuss the journey in the evening.

Day 2
Namaste Kathmandu

Kathmandu, the capital city, boasts an intense mix of cultures and religions unique to Nepal. Turn the Buddhist prayer wheels at Swoyambhu- the monkey temple and meet the steady gaze of the Buddha’s eyes at the famous Boudhanath stupa. Experience the valley’s olden days at the Kathmandu Durbar Square- which has remained authentic even as modernization has crept in all around it. See Kathmandu, with our trained guide. Day 3
Drive to Besisahar

Early morning after breakfast we arrange jeep, car, hiace or a tourist bus according the number of guests and depending on road situation. Once, pick up from Kathmandu hotel we take a long and joyful ride towards Besisahar. On way we are served with lunch and at evening we reach our destination. At evening we relax take a dinner enjoy the moment and stay overnight at Besisahar.

Day 4
Drive Besisahar to Chame

Same as day 3 after an early morning we arrange jeep, car, hiace or a tourist bus according the number of guests and situation. Pick our guest from Besisahar and drive towards Chame. Upon arrival we relax take a dinner and stay overnight at Chame

Day 5
Trek to Lower Pisang

From Chame we start our trek and uphill after a continuous walk we reach Lower Pisang where we set our camp and stay overnight.

Day 6
Lower Pisang to Manang

From Lower Pisang we start our trek immediately after morning. At evening we reach beautiful Manage village where we set our tent and stay overnight while if lodge preferred we transfer guest at lodge.

Day 7
Rest Day & Acclimatization

Positioned at an altitude of 3,519 m, Manage valley is a beautiful and the famous tourist destination at Nepal where we halt for a day and visit few extremely beautiful natures' gift. The day is separated for rest since from the other day we take a massive hike so it is utmost important to adapt the atmosphere of an altitude.

Day 8
Manang to Churi Letter

After breakfast at Manage we trek continuously uphill and reach Churi Letter. Upon arrival set camp and stay overnight.

Day 9
Churi Letter to Thorong Phedi

The trek of day 9 starts from Churi Letter and finally terminates after reaching Thorong Phedi where we halt and stay overnight at camp.

Day 10
Thorong Phedi to Thorong Peak Base Camp

Passing Thorong La mountain pass at an altitude of 5416 m in Damodar Himal and north of Annapurna circuit we reach the base camp at evening after a daylong exhausted walk. Set our camp and stay overnight.

Day 11
Base Camp to High Camp

Now on day 11 we walk uphill continuously and from low camp we reach high camp and halt whole night.

Day 12
High Camp to Summit & Back to Base Camp

From High camp we begin our trek and reach summit at an altitude of 6144m. After an average walk of 5-6 hours, we finally reach summit and get prepared to come down since the weather is drastically unpredictable, so we move down the same day and halt at high camp.

Day 13
Thorong Peak Base Camp to Muktinath

Once again Passing Thorong La Mountain at an altitude of 5416 m we trek towards another beautiful destination and the most pious region of Nepal. At evening we reach muktinatha and stay overnight at lodge as muktinath is the religious place along a tourist area.

Day 14
Muktinath to Jomsom

From the pious muktinath we walk towards Jomsom which is at an altitude of 2700 m. Upon arrival we relax and stay overnight at lodge.

Day 15
Fly Back to Pokhara, Look around Pokhara

From Jomsom we fly back to Pokhara and we visit few beautiful places around and enjoy the time at Pokhara.

Day 16
Fly Pokhara to Kathmandu & Farewell Cultural Dinner

Since Kathmandu valley is full of historical importance so the day we plan for a short souvenir shopping and sightseeing.

Day 17
Drive to Airport & Final Departure

The groups are dropped at airport with warm hospitality

Frequently asked Questions

How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will to, you can.

How long do we walk every day when doing Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

What is the highest altitude reached in this trek?

The highest altitude reached is 4190m. This is the elevation of Annapurna Base Camp. ABC is the highest we will climb in this trek.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Yes, you can charge batteries en route. Charger should be brought. There are hot shower facilities as well. You may have to pay certain amount for both ($1-$2). Negotiate. Also, hot water facility could be free at lower elevation.

Are there ATMs on the way to Annapurna Base Camp?

No. There are no ATMs on this trek route. You will have to draw enough cash in Pokhara or Kathmandu. There are a number of ATMs in these cities. Everything is paid in Nepali rupees. So money should be exchanged before the start of the trek.

What about internet access?

Yes. Internet can be accessed in most places. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. Internet in Nepal is not as fast as you are used to and at times you can just lose connection.

Is it necessary to hire Guides/trekking agency for Annapurna Base Camp trekking?

Not really. It depends on you. If you want, ABC trekking can be done independently. You could hire a guide and a porter by yourself instead of going through an agency or not hire a guide at all. Although, not having a guide can be a little problematic during off season. It really depends on you. Is it your first time in Nepal? How confident are you of being able to find your way around? How pressed on time are you? If you go through an agency, it will be costlier but everything will be planned. You will only have to come, trek and return.

How much do guides and porters cost?

For Annapurna region, pay for guides range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
